About No. 5

Defined by its high ceilings and detailed original cornicing, this home offers an immediate sense of warmth and character. Following a renovation of the rear extension, our challenge was to introduce a bright family kitchen that felt entirely proportionate to the property's grand original scale, layout, and architectural details.

By looking at the house as a whole rather than a series of disconnected rooms, we kept the floor plan intentionally simple and centered around easy movement. The light-filled space features a long central island that carries the eye out toward the garden, meeting a casual oak dining table at one end. To ensure the room remains balanced and uncomplicated, we integrated a cozy, panelled banquette seating area on one side, paired with a large double dresser opposite to serve as a practical, hidden hub for daily kitchen essentials.

To create a sense of continuity across the household, we carried that same design language through to a dedicated boot room. Inspired by the family's deep appreciation for the arts and their seasonal garden, the final combination of a playful color palette, oak interiors, aged bronze hardware, and premium Bianca Eclipsa worktops creates a welcoming, calm environment designed to feel like it has always belonged here.
