We've made our design, manufacturing, and installation process clear and simple so you can easily visualise the path to creating your dream kitchen, pantry, boot room or any working room or living space. We’re with you every step of the way, and this is how we do it.

Connect

There are plenty of ways to connect with Thomas Ford & Sons: you can call us, send an email, or complete the project enquiry form, all details of which can be found on our Contact page. If you would prefer to see our furniture up close, open cupboards and drawers, you are always welcome to visit the TF&S studio and speak to our lovely team of designers. However you decide to get in touch, we will aim to book you in for a first consultation. Whatever the project, we would love to hear from you!

First Consultation

Our First Consultation is a chance to hear more about you, your project and the way your family lives in real depth - hopes, wishes and timelines - all while introducing you to TF&S, our design approach and our furniture. We will look over any architect's plans you may have, discuss design ideas and begin to compile a wish list for each room. We will follow up by booking you in for a presentation at the studio or online if needed. Depending on your project, your first consultation can be at the studio or on-site.

Presenting your Designs

We invite you to the studio to present our first designs for your project. We approach design with a lot of thought and consideration, so it's always exciting for us to share our ideas with you. We provide you with a set of Plan and Elevation drawings and a full quotation, and leave space in the meeting for workshopping our designs so you can walk away feeling confident of what the next steps are.

Confirming Your Order with us

Our strong reputation is built on our genuine enjoyment of the design process and the pleasure we take in perfecting every detail in each room of your project. While we aim to achieve the perfect design quickly, our experience tells us that it requires time, consideration, and often a couple of revisions to reach your ideal design. That’s why if necessary we prepare a further 2 drawing packages free of charge before we ask you to commit to working with us on your project.

Project Meet & Greet

We prioritise strong and open communication from the outset. Shortly after your order is confirmed, we initiate a Project Meet & Greet on-site with you and your contractor. This essential meeting is an opportunity to put a face to a name, understand the project timeline and any other initial requirements your on-site may have from us. TF&S provides you with M&E drawings for each room so your contractor can carry out all plumbing, electrical, and gas works.

Specification Stage

Our Specification stage is a series of comprehensive, hands-on sessions where we delve into the finer detail of your approved design, room by room. This is the essential step before manufacturing. We divide the Specification stage into two sessions: Cabinet Specification and Finishing Details. These practical and creative sessions cover every aspect of your furniture. From door style and cupboard interiors, to worktops and appliances, hardware and colours. You name it, we cover it!

Manufacturing your Furniture

Once your specification is agreed, your furniture can be manufactured at our TF&S Workshop. Here, your furniture is expertly handmade, assembled and primed, ready for delivery. It usually takes us 6 weeks to make your bespoke furniture, with more individual items taking up to 12 weeks. Throughout both the Specification and Manufacturing stages, a member of our team will conduct necessary surveys on site.

Installation

Once your furniture is delivered, our dedicated team will install your furniture in 3 stages:

Furniture: Our skilled carpenters will oversee the expert installation of all of your cabinetry.
Worktops: Our stone masons will take precise templates of all worktops, which are then machine cut and hand-finished before being returned to site to be fitted.
Hand-Finishing: Finally, our finishing team takes over to hand-paint your furniture.

Signing Off and Aftercare

We will schedule a signing off meeting once the installation and hand painting of your kitchen and other rooms are complete. A member of our finishing team will conduct a thorough review on-site, ensuring all aspects of your project meet our TF&S standards, leaving you to love and enjoy your beautiful home. To give you complete peace of mind, we provide you with a comprehensive information pack that covers the future upkeep of your TF&S furniture, including guidance on paint, maintenance, and worktop care, ensuring you feel confident in putting your new rooms to work!
